Remembering Cortaca 2013

SUNY CORTLAND

Its been well over a year since Cortaca 2013, dubbed the ‘Biggest Little Game in the Nation", caused one of the biggest riots the SUNY Cortland campus has ever encountered.

The Huffington post reported that there were between 4,000 and 6,000 people were in the streets. At least one car was flipped, the streets were covered in beer cans and cups, and intoxicated students tossed pillows, tables, chairs and teddy bears into the air. The chaos also earned us a photo montag on Buzzfeed.

Lets take a look back at Cortaca 2013…

So the celebration began!

And in the dorms

They played real-life Mario Kart

This kid even jumped off a roof

Then the cops came..

Accompanied by police dogs

Things got bad

Over 30 students were arrested

The “excessive celebrating” made national news.

A proposal to ban the historic Cortaca football game for one year followed

But president Bitterbaum wasn’t having it

Cortaca lives on, but sadly, it will never be the same. We can all get nostalgic now.
